FAQs

FACTS & QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR TOURS

  • What is a ghost tour?

Your tour guide will tell ghost stories, while walking you through town, in the dark night, by candlelight. You will hear of ghostly encounters which have been thoroughly researched and documented. Stories have been reported by security officers, employees, and residents of the town. We never embellish our stories. What you hear are true experiences and sightings of ghosts.

  • Do we get to go inside the buildings?

Since we conduct our tours in Williamsburg's historic area, no ghost tours are allowed to enter these 18th-century buildings. However, you may walk up to the buildings once the tour is over. Tickets to Colonial Williamsburg may be purchased for entrance to many of the buildings, during the day, but are not needed to attend one of our ghost or witch tours.

  • Do we need to purchase our tickets in advance?

Yes. We need to know how many guests to expect so that we have the correct number of tour guides available to accommodate you.

  • What is your ticket cancellation policy?

    All tickets are non-refundable.

  • What happens if it rains?

Bring an umbrella! Tours are conducted rain or shine. If the conditions become hazardous or severe, we reserve the right to cancel the tour. We recommend dressing appropriately for all weather conditions. We will contact you if the tour is canceled, so be certain to give us your cell phone number when you reserve. Please do not call us regarding the weather. We will call you if need be.

  • If my tour is cancelled, will I get a refund?

If we cancel your tour for any reason, you will receive a full refund or, if you prefer, you may reschedule.

  • Do we need to print our tickets?

Tickets purchased on our website or called in do not need to be brought to the tour. We will have all of your information. However, if you have any vouchers from elsewhere, even if you have called in, you MUST bring them with you. You may print them out or show them on your cell phone.

  • Are there restrooms available during the walking tour?

Restrooms are available, though generally not along our tour route. They are easily accessible a short distance away, however, so you may walk to one if need be.

  • How will I recognize my tour guide?

All tour guides dress in historic period costumes and carry lanterns.

  • What is the pace of the walking tour?

All of our walking tours are taken at an easy pace. However, if you get behind, we will wait at each location before beginning to talk, again.

  • Is the tour suitable for children?

Our tours are family-friendly! Children love the costumed character tour guide and the adults enjoy the fact that we tell true, fully researched, and experienced ghostly encounters. This tour is unique in that it is engaging for all ages. Tours last just about 1 hour and 45 minutes. All children 6 and under attend free of charge. Please keep in mind that we do speak of deaths and murders. The details are not gory but can be a little spooky at times. We try to keep our tours at a level that will entertain all age groups, however.

  • What happens if I'm late?

If you are late, you will miss the tour. Tours leave right on time, and to be fair to the whole group, we cannot wait for late arrivals, nor will we call to see where you are. If you are not familiar with the meeting location area, please make sure to leave plenty of time to find it. Full directions are on this website. Refunds will not be provided.

  • Am I guaranteed to get pictures of ghosts during the tour?

We cannot guarantee that. Be wary of any company that promises ghostly photos, sightings, or experiences. It is not possible to make that promise. That has never happened, however, as our guides are trained to speak clearly and loudly enough for any size group.
